The Little Miss and Mister Strawberry Festival Queen and King Pageant

Back in February, we made the hard decision to release The Little Miss and Mister Strawberry Festival Queen and King Pageant to the Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival. We started the children’s pageant but it was an officially sanctioned event of the festival. Over the past several years, we saw a steady decline in the number of participants and we have lacked members who had passion for running the project as we had in years past. Shortly after we voted to release it and informed the festival board, the Louisiana Strawberry Preserve Society approached the festival and asked for permission to take over the

children’s pageant. The Louisiana Strawberry Preserve Society is the newly formed non-profit made up of past Strawberry Festival royalty (queens, kings, parade grand marshals, and chairmen) dedicated to promoting and educating on the strawberry industry, and many of its membership and board are past Jaycee members who were previously involved with the pageant. We know the Little Miss and Mister Strawberry Festival Queen and King Pageant is in good hands moving forward, especially with Margaret Joiner chairing this first pageant under their proprietorship. We hope the community will support them as they have supported us over the years and we have no doubt they will breathe new life into the

pageant. Their pageant is quickly approaching on June 25th!
